A founder’s story from the roots of Cocoküla

Cocoküla didn’t grow out of a side hustle — it began with Coconaüts, an evolving experiment in building a sustainable e-commerce brand rooted in story, imagination, and real impact.

I had just enough savings to work with interns instead of professionals — and that decision changed everything.
I wasn’t just mentoring — I was interning too, as a founder.

💡 Learning, Reversed
Over 30 interns — students, freshers, early-career creators — joined me across design, marketing, software etc. — co-creating, experimenting, and navigating a world being reshaped by AI. One even (re)taught me to code with AI tools… and I’had been a programmer most of my earlier-life.

🧩 The Missing Middle
Some students came in expecting fast growth or high pay — but hadn’t experienced real teamwork, feedback loops, or co-ownership. Founders like me were hungry for interns who “got it,” but we had no ecosystem to meet them halfway. And alumni — many now in leadership roles — lacked channels to meaningfully reinvest in the learning journeys that once shaped them.

🌱 From Insight to Intention
After two years of building Coconaüts, the need felt clear — and urgent. A few weeks before Teacher’s Day 2024, Cocoküla took shape as a campus-to-planet learning ecosystem.
A space to bring together students, startups, and alumni — not just to work, but to learn by doing, to build responsibly, and to leave behind something meaningful.

🌀 And That’s How Cocoküla Was Born

Before building the future of learning, we chose to honor its roots — with Cocoküla-141, our first tribute event.
Together with friends and classmates, we planted over 50 trees for teachers from two of my high-schools.

FAQ

Are you an NGO?

No — Cocoküla is a sustainability-first organization, but we’re not a nonprofit. We’re building a business with social and environmental impact at its core.

Climate/Sustainability isn’t a side project for us — it’s part of our foundation and success metrics. We believe the future of learning needs to be planet-positive and self-sustaining.

And there is a room for making it more playful!

Why does Cocoküla focus on both learning and trees?

Because both are about growth. Learning powers minds, trees power the planet — and when combined through real-world experiences, they create purpose-driven changemakers.

We believe education and sustainability aren’t separate lanes — they’re two roots of the same future.

What makes Cocoküla different from other learning platforms or events?

We're not a platform — we’re a playground. Cocoküla isn’t here to digitize the old way of learning, but to co-create new formats grounded in community, creativity, and real-world impact.

From Peer2Peer exchanges to tree-powered rewards, we center fun, flexibility, and shared purpose — not just credentials.

What’s next for Cocoküla?

We're just getting started. As our groves grow, we’ll be co-building with more campuses, more mentors, and more creative formats — from tree-ticketed fests to hybrid learning journeys.

Long term, we envision a global network where every learner gets to plant, play, and grow — on their own terms, with the planet in mind.

How do you define success at Cocoküla?

Success for us isn’t just numbers — it’s momentum. It's when a student finds a real-world learning path, a campus hosts its first green event, or a tree planted in someone’s honor sparks a conversation.

We measure growth by impact, engagement, and the energy we generate across our learning ecosystem.
